Another great word! Sisterhood.
Here is how Merriam-Webster defines it:
1 a : the state of being a sister
b : sisterly relationship
2 : a community or society of sisters; especially : a society of women in a religious order
3 : the solidarity of women based on shared conditions, experiences, or concerns
There is nothing like a sister. If you have one, you know what I mean. The growing up years can be challenging as you fight over clothes, words, make-up, and maybe even boys, but at the end of the day, there is nothing like a sister who knows you. Really knows you, and loves you just because you are her sister. No strings attached.
The good news is: we can all experience the sweetness that comes from a sister relationship because as an adopted daughter of the King, He has provided you with sisters. Lots and lots of sisters. And some of those will become like blood-sisters, getting to know you the way two biological sisters know one another . They will invest in you, they will love you, and they will sharpen you.
If you live in the Minneapolis area and are looking for a sister or two or twenty, look no further! River Valley’s Sisterhood is offered at the different campuses. Check out the link here and type in the word Sisterhood in the “Search For” box to find the group that works best for you, based on time and location.
Even if you don’t attend church . . .
Even if you have another church you call home. . .
You are still welcome to come!
It starts this week, but the door is always open for you to get plugged in at any time. It is never too late to seek the LORD with a group of women who are committed to praying for you and seeking truth moment by moment and day by day. Be brave this week and check it out! You won’t regret it.
If you don’t live in the Minneapolis area and don’t have River Valley’s Sisterhood as an option, plug in somewhere with women who are running hard after the LORD. When God’s women gather, He does some amazing, powerful things that we simply get the privilege to be a part of. He has a heart for women. He has a heart for you. Go and meet some of your sisters!
For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them. (Matt. 18:20, NLT)
P.S. I will be at the River Valley Shakopee campus on Wednesday morning from 9:30-11:00 if you’d like to join me!
